India and China are scheduled to hold their 9th round of military talks at the level of Corps Commander on Sunday to resolve the current military standoff in the area of Eastern Ladakh.
The next round of dialogue will take place in the Moldo area opposite the Chushul sector in India, according to the news agency ANI.
India and China, along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), have been locked in a bitter standoff for more than eight months after multiple rounds of diplomatic and military-level talks have failed to yield any breakthrough yet.
The eighth round of talks was held on 6 November 2020.
Although the last meeting ended in a deadlock, both countries agreed to maintain contact through open military and diplomatic channels and to push for the resolution of unresolved issues in order to jointly ensure stability and tranquility in the border areas.
Earlier this month, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Chief of the Indian Army, said that the armed forces were ready for a long distance along the LAC, while he hoped to do so.
On Friday, the Ministry of External Affairs said that both sides were maintaining close contact to resolve the border impasse.
“Anurag Srivastava, MEA spokesperson, said, “Both sides have agreed to hold the next round of the Senior Commander Level Meeting soon and we are in close contact in this regard through diplomatic and military channels.
