The destruction of the glacier in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli has resulted in heavy destruction and havoc. The flash- flood hit Tapovan- hydel project tunnel in which 35 workers were trapped on Sunday. The rescue operation is still underway. A joint team of ITBP, NDRF, and other agencies conducting rescue operation.
Death toll from the tragedy climbed to 34 and 170 persons are still missing. More slush and water coming from inside” The ITBP had tweeted on Wednesday. The entire nation has its eye on the on-going rescue operation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Loksabha said” Central government is monitoring the situation, PM himself is monitoring it. Both the control rooms of the Home Ministry are monitoring the situation round the clock and the state is being provided with all the possible help”.
According to information, after the mishap, 206 people were said to be missing from different places. Two of them informed the authority that they were safe. So far, 34 bodies have been recovered by the search team and 170 were still missing. The identities of 10 of the deceased have been established so far. Two of deceased were Uttarakhand police head constable Manoj Chaudhary and Constable Balbir Singh Gadhiya.
