Lt Col Sudeep Bhagat, who was posted at the Army depot, fired upon himself, the officials say. An Army officer allegedly shot himself dead at an Army depot in Khonmoh area of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday,he died on the spot.
On hearing the gunshots, some soldiers rushed to the spot and found him in pool of blood, they said. Later, he was shifted to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they added. The cause of him taking such an extreme step was not known immediately. The reason behind the suicide was not known immediately as a police party had rushed to the spot to ascertain the details.
The incident came to light after the Army officer’s colleagues heard gunshots from the area and went to the depot where they found him in a pool of blood. The reason of his suicide is yet to be ascertained and a probe is underway, police said. They said that further investigation into the matter was going on.
