Indian and Chinese warriors conflicted along the Line of Actual Control close to Naku La pass in Sikkim a week ago, the military said today, making light of the episode as a “minor go head to head”. The conflicts occurred on January 20, when a Chinese watch attempted to cross into Indian Territory. A short assertion said the strains were “settled by neighborhood administrators according to set up conventions”.
There were “immaterial and minor wounds” on the two sides, sources said. Four Indian soldiers were harmed when a Chinese watch was constrained back, government sources said. They added that China’s People’s Liberation Army endured an obscure number of losses.
“We have gotten a few inquiries with respect to a go head to head between Indian Army and PLA troops in Sikkim area. It is explained that there was a minor go head to head at Naku La zone of North Sikkim on 20 January and the equivalent was settled by neighborhood officers according to set up conventions,” said the military’s explanation.
The military added that the media should “shun exaggerating or misrepresenting reports which are genuinely wrong”. Chinese Foreign Ministry representative Zhao Lijian told a day by day preparation in Beijing on Monday he had “no data to offer” on the reports of conflicts.
“I might want to pressure, however, that is China’s line troops are focused on maintaining harmony and serenity along the line with India,” Zhao said. “We ask the Indian side to work similar way with us and forgo activities that may raise or entangle the circumstance along the boundary,” he added.
The Naku La pass, situated at a height of 19,000 feet, interfaces Sikkim to the Tibet district in China and is known to be a delicate region. Troops of the two sides last conflicted in similar district in May 2020, only days before an exceptional heightening when 20 Indian fighters and an obscure number of Chinese warriors were killed in an actual conflict in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh.
India and China have since been secured a deadlock along the boundary in Ladakh. New Delhi has said Beijing should reestablish the norm to defuse strain. The different sides held the 10th round of military talks yesterday and conversations continued for 15 hours, till around 2.30 AM at Chushul in Eastern Ladakh.
