Farm BillFarm Bill

Report by Prerna Deep:

To put an ease to the massive farmers’ protests near Delhi, the supreme court put a hold on the three Farm Laws, as of now. Chief Justice of India(CJI) headed a three-judge bench and said-“We are staying three farm laws until further orders.” Supreme Court also talked about setting up an expert panel as a form of Judicial Process to examine the issues related to three Laws

Supreme Court made this decision after revealing its concern for the Farmers protesting. Considering the participation of women and elderly people in the protest and after suicides taking place, the protest was a serious concern for the CJI. The top court also showed disappointment with the way negotiation was taken by the Govt. As a result, it asked the govt to pause the Law implementation and suggested a committee for negotiation. CJI is trying to solve the issue in the best possible way and in addition to this, he added- “We want to solve the problem and that’s why we are forming the committee.

Give the names to us, we will decide.” CJI also restricted the participation of elderly people in the protest. To the govt. The court added- “We cannot ask the prime minister anything, he is not a party before us. This is not politics. There is a difference between politics and the judiciary and you will have to cooperate.”
