A Muslim woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Aurraiya, who was rumored to have eloped with a Hindu youth, returned home. The family of the woman had lodged a criminal report accusing the youth of abducting their daughter. However, the woman has dismissed the claims raised by her father and denied the allegations that she had been abducted.
The lady, a resident of Senganpur who, on October 12, 2020, allegedly eloped with Akash from the neighboring village of Kulgaon, said that if he was able to adopt Islam, she wanted to live with the Hindu youth.
The lady’s father had lodged a complaint with the Ayana police against the youth for allegedly kidnapping his daughter with a view to marrying her.
Meanwhile, the police said the couple got married at a temple on October 14 in Delhi in accordance with the Arya Samaj rites. The pair has also submitted a marriage certificate given by the temple at the Ayana police station.
Notably, when the marriage took place, the Hindu youth’s family were present at the temple.
However, on October 14, as the woman’s father had filed a case against the youth Akash under section 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to force her marriage) against the youth Akash, the police arrested the pair after discovering their parents and delivered them in court where the woman expressed her wish to be reunited with her family. On Wednesday, she was sent with her parents, “However, as the woman’s father had lodged a case under section 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) on October 14 against the youth Akash, the police, after apprising their parents, detained the couple and produced them in court where the woman expressed her intent to be reunited with her family. She was sent with her parents on Wednesday,”
Furthermore, the police official claimed that it had yet to be determined if any action against the youth would be taken. Reports indicate that the youth had said that his family had no marriage issues, but it was the family of the girl who objected.
