Delhi police special cell on Tuesday arrested actor- activist, Deep Sidhu in Connection with the Republic day violence and for instigating the crowd. He was arrested from Haryana’s Karnal. According to DCP Sandeep Yadav, Deep Sidhu was waiting for someone in Karnal. He had to go somewhere else. After getting the inputs of his location police grabbed him. He was brought to the capital and sent to seven days in police custody.
Sidhu was absconding since 26 January. Police had earlier announced a cash reward of Rupees 1 lakh for information leading to Sidhu’s arrest. During the absconding he released several videos with the help of his female friend who lives in California. She used to upload the videos from sidhu’s Facebook account. In one of his video he said that he would come out on his own. He and his family should not be disturbed.
On the day of Republic day tractor parade was organized in Delhi under the farmers ‘ movement. During this parade , there was a big disturbance and chaos in the capital. It was revealed that Sidhu had provoked people for this violence. After his arrest, the total number of arrests in the Republic day violence has now reached 127. Based on cctv footage and mobile recordings police are now tracking the other accused involved in the violence.
