Amidst the ongoing farmers’ protest, more than 60 villages in Haryana have banned the entry of leaders belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alliance partner Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).

In Haryana, residents of a number of villages besides various khaps have passed resolutions calling for the boycott of BJP and JJP ministers and MLAs for supporting the new farm laws.

The BJP and JJP leaders have been facing protests for the last many weeks in Haryana.

Faced with heat over the protests of farmers, JJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala of Haryana are scheduled to speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today to probably discuss on protest-related issues.

On January 10, at the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ case near Karnal, just before the entry of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, hundreds of protesting farmers indulged in violence. They had to postpone the case.

Farmers stormed the site of the event and smashed through the barricades erected for security purposes in front of the stage, tossing flower pots, chairs and tables.

The farmers, carrying black flags, destroyed the temporary helipad in Kaimla village, where Khattar was scheduled to land, prior to ransacking the venue. After breaking through six checkpoints set up by the police, they entered the helipad.
